One of the most recent victims of a vehicle burglary where the doors were unlocked is a DPS trooper.

A Brazos County sheriff’s deputy reported he was in the downtown Bryan parking garage Wednesday morning walking to his vehicle when heard a door close.

The deputy saw a man not in uniform walking away from the driver’s side of a DPS SUV.

The deputy saw the man wearing a hat that resembles what troopers wear.

According to the arrest report, 56 year old Billy Bowden of Bryan told the deputy he opened the unlocked door, took the hat, and said he had the legal right to do that.

Bowden was arrested and taken to jail on the vehicle burglary charge.
