Brazos County Criminals Sentenced For Intoxication Assault And Sexual Assault

A College Station man has admitted to driving under the influence and causing a head on crash on Texas A&M’s west campus almost two and a half years ago. The plea agreement with the Brazos County district attorney’s office results in 21 year old Armondo Banuelos serving two years for intoxication assault. The impact of the collision on Raymond Stotzer Parkway near Discovery Drive caused the other car to catch fire and trap the driver and a passenger. Banuelos was also ordered to pay restitution of almost $1,100 dollars.

A Brazos County district court jury recently convicted a Bryan man for sexually assaulting a girl at least 15 times over a period of three and a half years. Two days after his 38th birthday, David Benavidez was sentenced by the trial judge to 30 years for aggravated sexual assault of a child. According to a news release from the district attorney’s office, the victim was 10 at the time the assaults began. Benavidez is awaiting a second trial on a charge of strangling the same victim.
