Faculty Senate Speaker Relays Thursday Home Football Game Issues To Administrators

Top administrators at Texas A&M have heard from the speaker of the faculty senate following unanticipated problems caused by the football team’s Thursday night season opener.

Dr. Julie Harlin says centrally located buildings were locked down at 1 p.m., making it virtually impossible to hold class.

Harlin received applause after saying she told the provost and the chief financial officer that A&M should not host a Thursday night football game at least until all the other schools in the Southeastern Conference get their opportunity to host a Thursday night game.

Harlin said it was less traumatic compared to dealing with hurricane Harvey last year.

She also thanked those who were involved in the advance planning, which made a difference in not making game day even worse for faculty and students.
