Bryan ISD Building Update Includes Progress On New Career And Technology Campus

On the eve of the start of the new school year, a variety of building projects are being completed in the Bryan school district. Bryan ISD’s construction manager, Jeff Windsor, says that includes the district’s new administration offices, the expansion at Bryan Collegiate high school, and a new grounds department building.

It’s been three months since the Bryan school board approved the $5 million dollar purchase of two buildings and 119 acres of land on Mumford Road for a new career and technology education (CTE) campus. Windsor says recommendations made this week from from the CTE community advisory committee will be relayed to their architect, which will work within the money available from savings in BISD’s 2014 bond issue to pay for the first phase of the new campus.

Superintendent Christie Whitbeck, on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs, identified the programs that will be included in the first phase of the new campus as industrial engineering and robotics, welding, construction, and automotive.
