Brazos Transit District Still Waiting For Structural Engineer’s Report On The Downtown Bryan Parking Garage

For six months, the owner of the parking garage in downtown Bryan has been waiting for an engineer’s report of the structural integrity of the building.

The CEO of the Brazos Transit District, John McBeth, tells WTAW News the district’s lawyer was supposed to get the detailed study this week.

Fences remain in place on the north side of the garage’s main floor, across 26th Street from the courthouse, where block walls have moved and according to the district’s lawyer will be replaced.

Three months ago, the lawyer told WTAW News those walls are cosmetic and do not affect the structural integrity of the six year old garage.

But out of an abundance of caution, an engineer was hired to what McBeth called a forensic study.

The parking garage has remained open, with the only spaces not available being those next to the fence on the ground floor.
