Bryan Superpark Consultants Update City Council On Public Feedback

Consultants hired to design the city of Bryan’s new superpark received a variety of responses from city council members Tuesday during an update on public feedback.

Councilman Greg Owens joined Prentiss Madison in favoring the conversion of the former golf course into a sports dominated venue.

Consultants Sarah Korpita, Shane Howard, and Steve Beachy said that public opinion is dominated by balancing athletics with the existing green space, trees, and lakes.

Mayor Andrew Nelson and councilmen Ben Hardeman and Mike Southerland supported the balanced concept.

The only comment from Reubin Marin was in reference to building an indoor athletics facility. There were no comments from Buppy Simank.

Public input is still being accepted through an online survey and a second open house that will be held next month.
