Bryan Police Make Two Arrests On Assault Charges

Bryan police responding to a disturbance early Sunday morning discovered a two vehicle crash that resulted in three injuries, and one man being arrested on three aggravated assault charges. A BPD officer wrote in his arrest report that 19 year old Jonathon Mendez admitted and showed no remorse for rearending his car into a a second car, which struck a tree. The three occupants in the second car included Mendez’s pregnant fiancee…who was being treated at the hospital for a fractured neck. A second passenger who was pinned in the car possibly sustained a broken leg. The driver possibly had a separated shoulder. Mendez was checked at the hospital before he was taken to jail, where as of June 13 he is being held on bonds totaling $32,000 dollars. The crash, where the victim’s car ended on top of the car driven by Mendez, was west of downtown Bryan at South Drive and East Drive.

A 15 year old young woman was taken to juvenile detention by Bryan police on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to BPD, a 19 year old young man was cut with a knife during an argument at the victim’s home west of downtown Bryan in the area of 14th and Sims. The victim was taken by a private vehicle to receive treatment for non life threatening injuries.
