Brazos Valley Bombers Introduce New Skipper Nelson Before Start of 12th Season

(Bombers manager Brian Nelson)

The Brazos Valley Bombers will go for their sixth straight Texas Collegiate League title in 2018, but they’ll have to do so with their second first-year manager in as many years.

New skipper Brian Nelson gave his inaugural address at the team’s preseason press conference Wednesday afternoon at Baylor Scott & White Hospital.

A Bastrop, Texas native, Nelson is no stranger to the Brazos Valley. He was a player for the Bombers in 2008 before becoming an intern in 2009. He then served an assistant coach for the franchise’s first two championship teams in 2012 and 2013.

Nelson was most recently an assistant at UT Rio Grande Valley from 2015-2017.

Also speaking with the media Wednesday were Bombers owner Uri Geva, as well as third baseman and Brenham, Texas native Sam McElreath.
