One Of Three Recent DWI Arrests Follow A Train Hitting A Truck & Another Follows A Car Fire

A College Station man was arrested early Sunday morning for drunk driving after getting his truck stuck on railroad tracks south of Wellborn. According to the DPS arrest report, 19 year old Michael Lomon II turned off Wellborn Road to the former Wade Road…one of two county roads that were closed almost two years ago in a deal with Union Pacific. U-P reports Lomon was not in the truck when it was struck by a train shortly after 3 a-m. No one on the train was injured, and the tracks were re-opened about two hours after the crash.

A crash and car fire outside a Bryan convenience store led to an arrest of a Bryan man on a DWI charge with three prior convictions. 60 year old Phillip Bachus told officers, according to the arrest report, he had taken two Xanax tablets and drank a 12 ounce container of beer before the crash. The fire department also responded to the crash and fire at the Shell c-store at 29th and Barak. A witness told police the car backed into a concrete barrier and the driver kept revving the engine, generating white smoke from the engine compartment.

More than four and a half years ago, a Bryan man admitted to drunk driving for the third time. He was recently arrested on a charge of violating conditions of his community supervision. According to documents from Brazos County district court, 53 year old Rigoberto Beltran is accused of attempting to alter the results of a drug test, not showing up for other drug tests, consuming alcohol, and driving with an invalid license. Beltran, who is out of jail on bond, is scheduled to make his next court appearance May 30th.
