Bryan Man Hospitalized After Stabbing And Police Announce One Arrest

A Bryan man is in the hospital with a medically induced coma after he was stabbed Wednesday night.

Bryan police arrested 34 year old Wakeem Mathis Sr. on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

According to the arrest report, the victim received several life threatening knife wounds at his apartment.

Mathis told officers the two were together most of the day when he noticed the victim started attacking him with a knife.

Mathis said he started defending himself and he said…quoting…”in the heat of the passion”…he does not remember what happened.

Mathis was treated in the emergency room for cuts to an arm and hand before he was taken to jail for the 23rd time since June of 2001.
