DWI Arrest After Friend Calls Police & K-9 Officer Helps Police Catch Three Teenagers

A real life example of the old anti-drunk driving campaign “Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk” took place in College Station last Sunday morning. The friend told police, according to the arrest report, that the driver was headed to the Exxon convenience store at Texas and University. The officer found the driver just as she was about to leave the store. After the officer determined the driver failed field sobriety tests, she was arrested and taken to the hospital for a blood sample. 37 year old Julia Pena of Bryan is out of jail after posting bond on a charge of DWI with two prior convictions.

One of the Bryan police department’s K-9 officers was used to track down three teenagers who were arrested last Sunday night for evading arrest. The arrest report also noted the handler chose not to send Blitz into a drainage ditch where one of the suspects was standing in at least 80 percent water. Two of the two-legged officers went in the water to bring out 17 year old Jabori Woods…who went to jail for the second time in a month. Also arrested was 17 year old Marco Alonso, who had been out of jail for ten days after serving six weeks for misdemeanor assault. And a 16 year old was taken to juvenile detention. The group is accused of jumping out of a SUV that an officer was trying to stop for driving without headlights at 8:30 Sunday night.
