Why A Bryan School Bus Created A Hole In A City Street

Update:

Bryan mayor Andrew Nelson gave a shoutout to city employees who worked after hours to repair a sinkhole on a city street that was created Tuesday by a fully loaded Bryan ISD school bus.

On WTAW’s The Infomaniacs, Nelson said a sewer line leak near a manhole cover caused the void under the street, sinking the driver’s side rear wheels of the bus.

Bryan ISD officials report the bus was scheduled for an inspection Wednesday for any damage.

Students from Fannin elementary were moved to another bus to complete their ride home from school.

Original story:

Those on board a fully loaded Bryan school district bus had a ride after school Tuesday that they’ll never forget.

District officials say the bus sank into soft street pavement…creating what looks like in social media photos as a sinkhole at Ursuline and Crenshaw.

No one was hurt, parents were called, and the students moved to another bus to complete their trip home.

WTAW News has e-mailed the city of Bryan’s communications office asking about repairs to the street.
