A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was hospitalized after trying to dodge a bicycle thrown at him by a suspect fleeing from a traffic stop.

According to the DPS arrest report, 37 year-old Jose Manuel Flores of Bryan was pulled over on Sunday afternoon at William Joel Bryan and Brazos Avenue.

When the trooper told Flores he was under arrest, Flores started fighting the trooper and fled the scene on foot. He then threw a bicycle in the path of the trooper, which caused him to fall and injure his knee.

Flores was later found at his home, drinking a beer, and claimed he did not know about the assault or the traffic stop.

He was arrested for an outstanding parole warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon along with the additional charges of evading arrest and assault on a peace officer.
