Two Teens Arrested for Vehicle Burglaries

Two teenagers were arrested Sunday night for burglarizing vehicles in the 1100 block of Oney Hervey off Holleman Drive.

According to College Station police, just before 11 p.m., a caller reported two black men checking door handles and also saw the suspects inside a vehicle.

On arrival, an officer saw one of the suspects trying to open a car door before running when he saw the police. He was caught after a short foot chase along with the other suspect.

17 year-olds Anthony Roy Hopkins and David Steven Blair of College Station were arrested.

Stolen property was returned to the owner.

News release from College Station Police:

On 11-12-17, at approximately 2254 hrs, College Station Police were dispatched to the report of suspicious persons in the 1100 block of Oney Hervey; College Station, Brazos County, Texas. A resident there was reporting two black males walking through the parking lots there ‘checking” door handles on vehicles parked there and had observed the two males inside of the same vehicle at one point. Officers arrived shortly after and began searching the area. An officer observed one of the suspects attempting to open a car door when he first located him. That same suspect began running when he saw the police, but was apprehended after a short foot chase along with the other suspect who walked up to officers who had the two of them surrounded.

After detaining and interviewing the two on scene, officers discovered that the witness who reported the burglary were able to identify which vehicles had been entered and which vehicles the suspects attempted to enter. A confession was also obtained by a suspect at the scene and a small amount of property was found near the other suspect and returned to the rightful owner. Many of the owners of the burglarized vehicles and attempted to be burglarized vehicles were located and wanted to press charges.

The suspects were identified as College Station residents Anthony Roy Hopkins a 17 year old male and David Steven Blair a 17 year old male. Both were arrested charged with one count each of criminal attempt burglary of vehicle and burglary of vehicle. Blair was additionally charged with evading and a second charge of criminal attempt of burglary of vehicle that the officer had witnessed.
