BEDMINISTER, N.J.- Texas A&M senior Maddie Szeryk shot an even par 72 in the First Round of the US Women’s Open. Szeryk is tied for sixth among amateurs and t-47th overall after the first day of play.

Szeryk birdied No. 12 and No. 13 on the par 72 / 6,668 yard Old Course at Trump National, bringing her back to even after a 2-over start. She only had two bogeys on the round.

The tournament cuts to the top 60 players and ties after two rounds. Szeryk is playing in her seventh LPGA-sanctioned event, and is looking to make her second 36-hole cut. Shanshan Feng of China leads the event with a 6-under 66 in the first round.

Severe weather which rolled in late in the day meant play was suspended with a few groups still left on the golf course. Friday’s tee times have been delayed 15 minutes to accommodate the resumption of play.

The US Women’s Open continues on Friday, July 13 with Szeryk in the last group teeing off, at 1:57 p.m. CT. Coverage of the event is on FS1 from 1-6 p.m. on Friday.
