Bryan-College Station, Texas (July 30, 2016)- The Bombers honored those affected by cancer in the Brazos Valley as they wore Strike Out Cancers jerseys, sponsored by CHI St. Josephs Health System, in front of a sold out crowd. Brazos Valley fell to the Cane Cutters 6-2.

The Bombers released balloons before the top of the third to remember those who lost their lives to cancer. Survivors and those still fighting cancer were brought on the field before the top of the fourth to be recognized for their heroics. Tonight’s theme brought the fans to their feet and a few to tears with the beautiful walk-around-the-bases ceremonies.

The loss snapped the Bombers’ record setting 21-game winning streak.

Down 2-0, Zack McGuire came up in the bottom of the second and got on base with a single. After a Tristan Metten walk, Riley Schaefer sacrificed the runners over for Spencer Hemphill. Hemphill responded with a 2-run single to tie the score. Hemphill reached base twice in the game from the eighth spot in the order. Metten and Logan Bottrell also got on base twice.

Wily Amador had a quality start, giving up three runs over six innings and striking out eight. Amador now leads the TCL in strikeouts with 54.

Walk-Off Sunday by Ashley Homestore College Station tomorrow features the TCL Junior Homerun Derby Sponsored by The Batter’s Box. The gates will open at 5:00pm for the derby and the game will start at 7:05 pm.
