News release from Texas A&M University Police:

At approximately 11:46 a.m. today, the Texas A&M University Police Department (UPD) receive a 911 call from an individual regarding a welfare concern. The caller reported that a family member allegedly threatened to kill his girlfriend, a SSC Service Solutions employee who works on the Texas A&M campus.

Officers were able to locate the male subject’s girlfriend at her place of employment on campus. At approximately 12:28 p.m., while officers were escorting her to a secure location, the male subject was observed near Moses Hall. The subject began to move toward the officers in an aggressive manner and disregarded verbal commands to remove his hands from his pockets. He was taken into custody at gunpoint without incident.

The male subject was identified as Zebulun Jarell Ransom, a 28 year old Bryan resident.

Through further investigation, it was determined that the reporting party received the possible terroristic threat information from another family member before contacting the UPD. Officers were able to contact that individual, and it was determined that there was miscommunication between the family members, and the threat was not at a level originally stated during the initial 911 call.

Ransom was issued a criminal trespass warning for all Texas A&M University property and released. No criminal charges are pending at this time.
