A memorial service for Dean Wile is Thursday, May 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station.

Original story:

A well known and longtime member of Bryan/College Station business community died unexpectedly Wednesday night.

Jeweler/gemologist Dean Wile was with Julia and David Gardner since day one since establishing their business 34 years ago.

Julia Gardner says Dean was planning to take over the family farm in Iowa when a car accident left him disabled.

As part of his occupational therapy he took an interest in jewelry bench work, which led him to Paris Junior College, where he was hired after completing that program.

Julia says Dean “had an incredible work ethic”, “he was fiercely independent”, and “he set the example for caring about people.”

While funeral arrangements have not been finalized, the Gardner’s invite friends to come by the store to share their stories.
