Texas A&M Health Science Center Hosted Disaster Drill

For those driving by Central Baptist Church at Highway 30 and Harvey Road Thursday morning, the Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) conducted its annual mass emergency disaster simulation.

Nicknamed “Disaster Day”, participants included more than 350 students from the TAMHSC College of Nursing, College of Medicine, Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy and School of Public Health, as well as Blinn College nursing and radiology students.

Approximately 700 community volunteers served as simulated patients, trained and painted with makeup to both visually and emotionally portray a chaotic, mass disaster event scenario.

Texas A&M Veterinary Emergency Team provided staged medical care for animals injured as a result of the mock disaster scenario.
