CS School Board Receives Recommendations For New Elementary School BoundariesFeatured Stories, News Wednesday, August 20th, 2014
The College Station school board has been given recommendations to redraw elementary school boundaries to accommodate the opening of the Spring Creek campus a year from now.
The consensus opinion of 25 community members, is most of the 578 students at Spring Creek will come from Greens Prairie elementary. Superintendent Clark Ealy says it’s an area bordered by Rock Prairie Road, Holleman South, Dowling, and Wellborn Road. That would allow the population at Greens Prairie to drop from 849 to 592.
Some students from three other schools would also transfer. That includes those at Creek View who live on Alexandria south of Barron Road, Forest Ridge students from the Shenandoah development, and South Knoll students who live in an area bordered by Krenek Tap, Dartmouth, Southwest Parkway, and Texas.
With the exception of Pebble Creek and Southwood Valley, the remaining elementaries would have what were described as minor changes.
The recommendations also included who would be allowed to continue going to school at their present locations.
Three public hearings will be held at these times and locations:
Tuesday, September 2 at 7 p.m. at the CSISD board room.
Thursday, September 4 at 5 p.m. at the CSISD transportation center.
Wednesday, September 10 at noon at the CSISD transportation center.
