Six Year Old Along For The Ride As Dad Tries To Elude Bryan PoliceFeatured Stories, News Friday, July 11th, 2014
A six year old took quite a ride with his father early Thursday morning.
Bryan police Lt. Sharean Gideon says the youngster was in the front seat of a SUV without being in a car seat.
Gideon says officers were attempting to arrest 29 year old Dachristopher Harrison for a parole violation. One patrol car was in front of the suspect’s vehicle and another was approaching from the rear when Harrison accelerated in reverse.
Police estimated Harrison, who is the father of the six year old, was going 40 miles an hour in reverse when his Expedition struck a police Tahoe with enough force the airbag deployed in the police SUV.
Gideon says no officers were hurt and the six year old was given to a family member.
Gideon says Harrison, who had been convicted on drug charges, had 28 bags of cocaine worth $1,170 along with $660 cash.
Jail records indicate it’s the second time Harrison has been arrested for violating parole since last September, and the 12th time he’s been booked in nine years.
