Second Charter Amendment Petition Drive Underway in Bryan

BryCharterAmendPetition061214_featA petition drive has started on a proposed charter amendment to who can vote for Bryan city councilmembers.

There would be no change in the makeup of the Bryan council.

Five members would continue to be required to live within the boundaries of single member districts.

The difference according to businessowner Bobby Gutierrez is that all Bryan voters can decide who will be on the council.

Gutierrez says this is in response to a pair of council members who say they won’t vote for anything that doesn’t benefit their districts.
