A Hearne man is off to prison for setting a fire to a mobile home near Bryan occupied by a former best friend who was in a relationship with his ex-wife.

43 year old Robert Goethe had pleaded guilty and was convicted of arson of a habitation.

The March 2011 fire was in the High Country subdivision off of FM 2223 northeast of Bryan.

Also in the home were the Goethe’s three children and a relative of the boyfriend.

No one was injured, and the owner extinguished the fire with a garden hose.

Goethe remains in jail in lieu of a $10,000 appeal bond, which the conditions have not been set.
