Banks Earns Dual SEC Honors

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M outfielder Nick Banks earned a pair of honors as the SEC named the 2014 season award winners on Tuesday as voted on by the league’s coaches.

Banks was named to the All-SEC Second Team and the SEC All-Freshman team. Banks and Florida’s Logan Shore, who edged the A&M outfielder for SEC Freshman of the Year recognition, were the only two freshman to earn All-SEC status.

The freshman ranks fifth in the SEC with a .348 batting average, going 62-for-178 on the year. He has added 28 runs, 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 25 RBI and six stolen bases on the year.

In 30 SEC contests, Banks ranked fourth in the league with a .360 batting average, going 41-for-114 with seven doubles, one triple, one home run, 15 runs and 16 RBI.

The Aggies are 33-24 on the season and begin play at the NCAA Houston Regional on Friday with a 3 pm game against Texas.
