A family disturbance last year has landed a Bryan man in prison.

48 year old Roy Acosta entered a plea agreement where he admitted to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Acosta will serve at least half of a six year sentence before becoming eligible for parole because a weapon was involved.

An arson charge was dismissed. Acosta was arrested last April after swinging an ax at three members of his family then setting fire to the front door of his home a block north of Sue Haswell Park.

The wife and one of his daughters were able to take away the ax before anyone was hurt. A t-v tray was split in half.

Fire damage was limited to the door.
