Cat Responsible for Early Morning Power OutageFeatured Stories, News Thursday, February 20th, 2014
About 7,000 College Station Utility customers lost power this morning when a cat caused a transformer to fail.
Crews had power restored by 6:30 a.m., but urged conservation to ease the load on the grid until substation repairs were complete.
Director of Electric Utilities Timothy Crabb said the outage area affected the area east of Highway 6 from FM 2818 to Hwy 30, and west of Highway 6 from Harvey Road north to the city limits line including the Northgate Area.
The cat did not survive.
