Concrete-Breaking at the Queen Thursday MorningFeatured Stories, News Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014
A handful of local companies are providing free products and labor to benefit the restoration of the historic Queen Theater.
The chairman of the Downtown Bryan Association, Ben Hardeman, says there will be a ceremonial concrete-breaking inside the Queen Thursday morning at 10.
Within a few weeks, there will be a new concrete slab at little or no cost.
Hardeman says The concrete removal and pouring is being done by Jesse Palomares Construction, and Boyd Ready Mix is providing the new concrete, Kelly Burt Dozer Service is providing the sand, and Woodson Lumber the framing lumber, rebar, and sheeting.
Hardeman says once the concrete work is completed, framing the four floor structure will begin with assistance from homebuilder Randy French.
