Brazos County Commissioners Approve Courthouse Phase FourFeatured Stories, News Friday, January 17th, 2014
Construction will continue at the Brazos County Courthouse for the next year and a half.
County Judge Duane Peters says the $5.9 million dollar contract includes moving the three district courts and the Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace and Constable to the fourth floor.
That includes replacing two elevators and extending them and a stairway to the fourth floor, where the jail was once located.
Underspending county budgets has provided money for the renovation, and Peters hopes more is found to take on a proposed fifth phase.
During part of the renovation, the 361st district court will be in the administration building.
