TV Weatherman Files Complants Against Former Employer

Former television weatherman Bob French has filed state and federal labor complaints accusing KBTX of age and disability discrimination and retaliation.

Station officials say they were disappointed to learn about the legal action from other media outlets and added the allegations are, according to KBTX, “utterly without merit.”

In a news release from French’s lawyer, he claims he was overworked during last year’s holidays while younger employees were allowed time off.

He says that led him to enter in-patient treatment last January for exhaustion and stress.

When he returned to work last April, French says he was reprimanded for being gone, which led to his being fired last July and replaced with someone younger.

His lawyer says complaints were filed with the Texas Workforce Commission and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
