Plea Agreement for 12 Year Old Who Killed His BrotherNews Friday, November 22nd, 2013
BURNET, Texas (AP) _ A 12-year-old Central Texas boy has been sentenced to 13 years in custody for setting a mobile home fire that killed his little brother and injured his grandmother.
The Burnet (BER’-net) County Attorney’s Office on Thursday announced details of the capital murder plea agreement over the July blaze in Granite Shoals.
Authorities say the boy, whose name has not been released because he’s a minor, pleaded guilty Nov. 8. He originally was charged with arson over the blaze that killed his 8-year-old sibling.
The boy must serve the sentence in a Texas juvenile facility. He’ll be eligible for parole in 2020. A hearing will be held at that time to determine his future custody status.
Granite Shoals is 50 miles northwest of Austin.
