CS Council Receives High Speed Rail Update

In less than 90 minutes, you could ride a high-speed train between Houston and Dallas with a stop in College Station.

That’s what the College Station city council heard during a recent presentation from the president of the Texas Central Railway.

Robert Eckels says a decision on the alignment is expected after the first of the year. One of three proposed routes includes a local stop.

Eckels says the 200 mile per hour bullet trains could start running in seven years.

Eckels was asked by councilman James Benham how long the ride would take between Houston and Dallas with a stop in College Station.

He also says they have run in Japan for 49 years with no loss of life accidents.
