Weekend Home Rental Discussed Again by CS Council

While there are no more A&M football games this season at Kyle Field, the subject of renting private homes is still being discussed by the College Station city council.

A majority agreed to let staff develop guidelines as suggested by Planning and Development Director Bob Cowell.

In his first meeting, new councilman Steve Aldrich reacted to concerns of a bed and breakfast owner having to compete with unregulated weekend rentals.

Julie Schultz was among councilmembers hearing from homeowners wanting to know local laws.

Currently, homeowners offering weekend rentals can not have more than four unrelated people, they must register with the city and state, and pay hotel occupancy taxes.

The city’s enforcement policy is on a complaint basis.
