Evans, Manziel Named Walter Camp Player of the Year SemifinalistsSports Wednesday, November 13th, 2013
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Texas A&M’s dynamic sophomore duo of wide receiver Mike Evans and Johnny Manziel were named semifinalists for the prestigious Walter Camp Player of the Year Award by the Walter Camp Football Foundation on Wednesday.
Evans and Manziel were one of only two teammate pairs on the list, joining Alabama’s senior quarterback AJ McCarron and senior linebacker C.J. Mosley. The 15-player watch list includes 10 quarterbacks, three defensive players, one wide receiver and one running back. A list of five finalists will be announced on Wednesday, December 2.

A 2012 finalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, Manziel ranks among the Football Bowl Subdivision leaders in passing, total offense and touchdown responsibility, while Evans is among the nation’s leaders in receiving yards and touchdowns.
Manziel has generated 3,924 total yards in 10 games, which leads the nation by over 400 yards. He ranks third nationally with 3,313 passing yards, second with 31 passing touchdowns and third in passing efficiency (186.9 rating). He leads the nation in points responsible for with 234 points.
Evans leads the Southeastern Conference and ranks No. 2 nationally with 1,263 receiving yards (on 57 catches) and his 12 receiving touchdowns leads the SEC and ranks No. 3 in the FBS. A big-play receiver, Evans leads the FBS in 40-yd catches (8), 30-yard catches (16), 25-yard catches (21) and 15-yard catches (34). A big-game receiver, Evs has produced a FBS-best 566 receiving yards, five touchdowns and 31.4 yards per catch average against opponents ranked in the Associated Press Top 25.
