New Scoring System to Review Rudder High Athletics ExpansionFeatured Stories, News Tuesday, November 12th, 2013
For the second time, Bryan school district officials are accepting offers on additions to athletic facilities at Rudder High School.
Proposals are being accepted until December 3rd on construction that is estimated to cost $2,749,000.
The cost of expanding the Rudder High fieldhouse is estimated at $1,575,000, plus there is a $405,000 air conditioning chiller to service the current and future portions of the fieldhouse.
The remaining $769,000 would go towards outdoor concession stands, restrooms, bleachers, and fields.
After the board rejected proposals over the summer following opposition from local firms, the scoring system has been changed.
The board unanimously accepted David Stasny’s call to give more weight to a firm’s history with Bryan ISD.102113-Comments-from-David-Stasny.mp3
In this category, all proposals will start with 10 points. Depending on their track record, a firm could get a zero or as much as 20 points.
Two other categories, a firm’s fee and their overall experience and reputation, can receive up to 25 points apiece.
Construction companies interested the project have until December 3rd to submit their RFP. The RFP’s will be scored by a committee December 3rd and 4th, then recommendations are considered by the school board December 16th.
