More Campaign Treasurers for 2014 Brazos County Elections

Saturday is the first day to file for next year’s elections. In Brazos County there will be some primaries.

It is expected there will be a primary for county commission in district four. Incumbent Irma Cauley and Paul Madison, who is leaving the Bryan City Council, faced each other in 2010 and both have filed their notices of campaign treasurers. Madison’s departure from the council due to term limits has been delayed because his successor has yet to be determined. City Secretary Mary Lynne Stratta says she will propose a runoff election date of December 17 when the council meets on November 18.

Back to Brazos County races, so far there are five candidates wanting to succeed the retiring precinct 3 Justice of the Peace George Boyett. They are Rick Hill, Rick Vessell, Larry Johnson, Jim Cashion, and Mickey Posey.

And two candidates for constable in precinct 3 have named treasurers, incumbent Rick Starnes and Joe Ingram.

Other incumbents who have filed their treasurer notices are County Judge Duane Peters, district 2 commissioner Sammy Catalena, county clerk Karen McQueen, and constables Donald Lampo in precinct 2 and Issac Butler in precinct 4.

Two other treasurer notices have been filed. Jeff Reeves is seeking his first full term as constable in precinct 1 and Jean Phelps is seeking the JP position in precinct 1.
