A&M Presidential Search Going As Chancellor Wants…In Secret
Featured Stories, News Thursday, November 7th, 2013The search for the next president at A&M is going like the system chancellor wants…quietly.
That was among the questions asked of John Sharp at this week’s meeting of the university staff council.
In response to a question why the search committee has two non-voting members, Sharp talked about keeping the size of the committee small to draw applicants who want to keep their interest private.
A member of the staff council is one of the non-voting members, along with the student body president.
There are seven voting members, composed of three professors, two members of the board of regents, and two business executives who are A&M graduates.
Sharp says several hundred have applied and an outside consultant is recruiting candidates.
After Thanksgiving, the selection process will start.
