Update 3:50 p.m.
DPS Trooper Jimmy Morgan says the man who was killed is 26 year old Jordan Douglas Royer of Timpson, Texas.
Update 1:30 p.m.
A head on collision on Highway 21 east of North Zulch Friday morning resulted in one death and closed the highway for more than nine hours.
DPS trooper Jimmy Morgan says the driver of an eastbound pickup apparently fell asleep. The truck crossed the center line and was struck by an oncoming semi.
The driver of the pickup, whose name has not been released because family has not been notified, died at the scene.
The driver of the semi was treated at St. Joseph’s and released.
Morgan says the semi was hauling an oil tanker. While the tanker was not damaged, its load was transferred to another tanker.
Morgan says the transfer and the cleanup from the impact, which resulted in fires to both vehicles, caused the highway to be closed.
The crash was reported Friday morning at 2:54, and the Texas Department of Transportation announced the highway was reopened at 12:30 p.m.

Highway 21 is shut down this morning between North Zulch and Madisonville, due to a crash between a semi truck and a passenger vehicle with at least one fatality.
DPS says the crash took place around 3:30 a. m. Friday, in the Cottonwood area of Highway 21 at County Road 413.
DPS advises drivers to use FM 1372 and FM 39 to bypass the closed area of Highway 21 for several hours as work continues at the scene.
The numbers of injuries and fatalities, as well as identities, are undetermined at this time.
