Texas A&M University’s entire 2,412-member Corps of Cadets, including the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, will hold a formal review at 5:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 13) on Simpson Drill Field.
The cadets will form-up in the Quad, an area between the corps residence halls, at 4:50 p.m. Friday and then step-off at 5 p.m. They will then march to Simpson Drill Field, north of the Memorial Student Center. The review will begin at 5:30 p.m. and conclude at approximately 6 p.m.
“The cadets are extremely excited this year,” said Corps of Cadets Commandant Brig. Gen. Joe E. Ramirez Jr. “I have challenged each class to leave the corps better at the end of the year than when they started this year, and I definitely believe they will accomplish that goal. It’s an exciting time for our corps, and we look forward to a great year ahead.”
Corps officials report that more than 900 new freshman cadets, the largest freshman class since 1970, reported for orientation the week before classes began. In addition, they say the Aggie Band also experienced significant growth with 161 freshmen this year. The overall size of the band this year exceeds 450 cadets.
Corps officials say the public is invited to bring lawn chairs and attend the review. They also advise that, because of the heat, those attending also bring plenty of water.
