Manziel Painting Benefitting A&MFeatured Stories, News Thursday, September 12th, 2013
As A&M and Alabama prepare to face off, this week’s festivities include the presentation of a three by four foot oil painting by artist Daniel Moore of Johnny Manziel slicing through the defense.
Moore says his work, titled Turning The Tide, took two months to complete and was a result of last year’s game being designated College Football Game of the Year.
He says he just completed the painting a few weeks ago, and Friday, a canvas replica will be presented to the Twelfth Man Foundation, along with a shadowbox award and a $5,000 scholarship check honoring the Junction Boys.
Moore calls his painting’s focus on Manziel a “no brainer,” and he included small touches such as painting twelve minutes left on the clock, symbolic of the twelfth man.
He says he was especially impressed by Manziel’s running game and elusiveness, and he feels that his painting captures an iconic image that explains the game.
