44 Alcohol Related Arrests Last WeekendFeatured Stories, News Tuesday, September 10th, 2013
The Brazos County Jail was kept busy last weekend with alcohol-related offenses.
Jail records indicate 22 arrests for drunk driving, another 13 for public intoxication, and undercover operations from police departments in both cities busting parties involving underage drinking.
Bryan Police made eight arrests last Friday night at an apartment complex on Carter Creek between East 29th and Briar Oaks. According to the arrest report, they were at a fraternity/sorority rush party that was attended by 150 before they arrived. After the officers told the hosts they lived across the street, they were told they were welcomed anytime. One of the hosts filled up an officers empty beer can from a keg without questioning his age. While the three undercover officers stayed in character, four more policemen arrived. Three were arrested for furnishing alcohol to minors. And five underage drinkers were ticketed for possessing alcohol.
What College Station police calls its “party patrol”, driving an unmarked pickup, spotted an open garage door and a beer pong game going on at 2819 Horseback, east of the freeway between Raintree and Southwest Parkway. Everyone at that party appeared to be under 21. While the hosts were not arrested, one of the approximately 20 guests was arrested for attempting to flee officers.
