Brazos Valley Fair Next WeekendFeatured Stories, News Tuesday, August 27th, 2013
With the second annual Brazos Valley Fair coming next weekend, Executive Committee Chairman Jim Mazurkiewicz says he’s looking forward to this year being even bigger and better.
Last year, about 16,000 people attended and Mazurkiewicz hopes to more than double that with at least 25,000.
Likewise, Mazurkiewicz says last year, there were only 800 livestock entries total, but so far this year, they’ve had a 50% increase up 1,200 with a week still left to go for entries, meaning they will have more prize money to distribute to the kids.
He says all of the entry fees for local kids is given back to the kids in prize money, and $33,000 were awarded last year.
Mazurkiewicz says there will be many more events, an extra day of rodeo, and entertainment that includes an elite folk band from Poland, a country which made a large impact on traditional Texas music.
Mazurkiewicz says the band was in Italy last month and made the semi-finals for the entire European continent.
They will perform on the Rock and Spur stage Friday night at 6:00.
