Bank Robbed in Bryan

Friday afternoon update:

For the second time in three weeks, there’s been an armed bank robbery in Bryan that was preceded by the getaway car being stolen at gunpoint.

Just after 10 a.m. Friday, Officer Lori Berndt says a Crown Victoria was taken from a trailer park on Mobile Avenue.

20 minutes later, three masked men, one with a handgun, entered The Bank and Trust on Highway 21 by the freeway.

Berndt says the stolen getaway car was found north of the bank on Colson Road.

No one was injured and no customers were inside the bank at the time of the robbery.

Berndt says it’s not known if it’s the same group of men that on July 30 stole a car, resulting in minor injuries to the driver, then robbing the Commerce National Bank on East 29th.

It’s the fourth armed robbery at a Bryan bank in the last two and a half months.
