Another local convenience store was the target of a robbery.

But this time, the man accused of making the attempt left without any money and the next day he was arrested.

This was Monday night at the Sunrise Food Mart on Leonard Road west of Bryan.

Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk says the clerk had seen 27 year old Artemio Deleon come in the store two times earlier in the day.

Deleon is accused of returning to the store a third time, wearing purple latex gloves and keeping one hand in his pocket, then giving a note to the clerk to hand over the money and keep her hands above her waist.

Instead, the clerk told Deleon she wasn’t going to read the note because she didn’t have her glasses.

According to the arrest report, the clerk said Deleon “appeared to get mad”, then he walked out.

Investigators used the store’s surveillance video to identify Deleon.

Kirk says Deleon was found the next day at his sister’s house.

Jail records show this is his fourth arrest in the last 12 months and the 14th time since 2004.
