Brazos Valley Food Bank Asks For FundsFeatured Stories, News Thursday, July 25th, 2013
The Brazos Valley Food Bank is already preparing for fall needs through its Feeding Hope Sponsorship Campaign.
Executive Director Theresa Mangapora says they’re asking specifically for money to put food into children’s backpacks, bags for impoverished, home-bound seniors, and mobile food pantries for areas without good access to food banks.
Mangapora says it costs about $6.00 for a senior bag and $6.50 for each child’s backpack.
She says so far they’ve raised about $10,000, but that’s only a third of the $30,000 they hope to raise by mid August.
Mangapora says folks can donate online and designate specifically where they want their money to go.
She says you can also donate food by placing it into the red barrels around town all year long.
She says they always need proteins such as peanut butter, canned beans and canned meats, coffee, and dry staples such as noodles and rice.
