A Brazos County District Court jury that convicted a Bryan man of murder on Thursday decided Friday on punishment.
20 year old Travis Carroll was sentenced to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay a $5,000 dollar fine.
The jury deliberated three hours during the punishment phase after going 95 minutes to determine Carroll was guilty of participating in the 2011 shooting death of Billy Menard, Jr.
Maximum punishment would have been life in prison. Prosecutor sought 40 to 50 years and Carroll’s lawyer asked for a five year sentence.
