Increase in Brazos County Oil ExplorationFeatured Stories, News Saturday, June 29th, 2013
There’s optimism of additional tax revenue coming into Brazos County from the energy sector. County Clerk Karen McQueen says it’s not been this busy since she started working in 1981.
McQueen says her office has been jammed with people getting copies of land records who are acquiring mineral rights.
During the last month, the clerk’s office has made 27,000 copies, a $1 per page.
Once wells are drilled and oil is flowing, that means additional tax revenue for the county.
McQueen says the activity is in the northern part of the county, particularly along OSR.
