INDIANAPOLIS — Texas A&M senior-to-be Breeja Larson earned a trip to the FINA World Championships with a victory in the 200-meter breaststroke at the 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships and World Championships Trials on Wednesday at the IUPUI Natatorium. Larson, from Mesa, Arizona, outclassed the 200 breast field with a winning time of 2:23.44, which was more than a second faster than runner-up Micah Lawrence of Auburn (2:24.69). With the win, Larson earned a spot on Team USA that will compete at the World Championships July 15-Aug. 4 in Barcelona, Spain. It was the first-ever national championship for Larson at the 200-meter distance. She had previously won a pair of NCAA titles in the 100-yard breaststroke and was the 100-meter breast champion at last year’s U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Larson joins Aggie teammate Cammile Adams on the Team USA roster. Adams punched her ticket to Spain with a victory in the 200-meter butterfly on Tuesday. Both Larson and Adams will be back in action on Thursday with Larson as the top seed in the 50 breast and Adams as the No. 3 seed in the 400 IM.
