Two Friday Night Freeway Crashes in CSNews Saturday, June 22nd, 2013
College Station Police responded to a pair of crashes within a 30 minute period Friday night on the freeway
The first call was at 9:11 p.m. a rollover in the southbound lanes near the Emerald Parkway exit. Upon arrival, officers found that a blue 1999 Ford Pickup was originally traveling south in the outside lane. A rear tire on the pickup was damaged by an unknown mechanism, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and rollover in the median. The driver was transported to the College Station Medical Center by the College Station Fire Department. The driver was found to have non-incapacitating injuries. The roadway was partially shut down while the accident was being investigated and was cleared at 10:08 p.m. The driver was identified as 56 year old Alfredo Cervantes Romero of Navasota.
The second crash was reported at 9:36 p.m in the southbound lanes near Southwest Parkway. Officers were told a SUV struck a car that was stopped in the outside southbound lane, forcing the car into the inside lane of traffic. The car then struck a second SUV who was traveling in the inside lane. The only injuries were complaints of pain. The roadway was partially shut down while the accident was being investigated and was cleared at 10:21 p.m. Police identified the driver of the first SUV as 55 year old Julia Gause of College Station resident, who was cited for failing to control speed. The driver if the car was 62 year old William Suter of Tomball, and the driver of the second SUV was 27 year old Wesley Wacasey of Tomball.
