Scam Alerts From the Local BBBFeatured Stories, News Monday, June 10th, 2013
There’s a new email scam claiming to be from the Better Business Bureau.
Local BBB President Bill McGuire says the badly written message which says “you are about to be revoked,” should be easy to recognize as fake.
Not only that, he says the address at the bottom of the email is from Arlington, Virginia, but complaints you get from our surrounding counties will only have the Tarrow Street address in College Station.
Meanwhile, for those who’ve been trying to sell their timeshares, McGuire has good news.
He says the Federal Trade Commission has really cracked down on scam artists making fake offers who say they’ve got a buyer, ask for closing fees, and disappear.
McGuire says 191 actions have been brought by the FTC and its law enforcement partners across 28 states and in 10 other countries.
