Advisories from BTU & TMPAFeatured Stories, News Friday, June 7th, 2013
Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) reminds property owners that tree trimming continues along power lines in Bryan, parts of College Station, and rural areas of Brazos County. BTU officials say trimming is done within eight feet of each electric distribution circuit every five years as part of their standard maintenance of overhead power lines. Trees are trimmed according to the guidelines of the contractor’s arborist and with the health of the tree and environment in consideration. To report trees in contact with power lines or any other dangerous situation, call 979-822-3777.
And motorists north of Carlos have to navigate around a road closure. The Texas Municipal Power Agency (TMPA) in cooperation with the Grimes County Road & Bridge Department have announced closing County Road (CR) 157 from CR 164 to CR 165 from Monday through Friday, June 10-15. That’s to allow emergency repairs to a TMPA rail spur where it crosses CR 157 approximately seven miles north of Carlos.
